TAKING A STAND FOR HUMANITY

Environmental enforcement jobs include a large range of responsibilities and are generally available in the local councils. Usually, environmental experts work with teams of enforcement officers in order to stop all offenses related to the existing environmental laws and regulations.

Some of the job tasks are: public health; environmental preservation & protection; occupational health; measuring acoustics; air pollution.

  • Entry requirements include qualifications in biological sciences, environmental sciences or similar degrees. Previous enforcement experience is a plus.

Environmental enforcement jobs require you to visit different locations and make reports regarding the violation of environmental laws. In some situation, environmental officers have to go to potentially dangerous areas, and they need to wear protective clothing. Any time a problem is signaled by an environmental technician, they have to investigate the causes and apply the environmental laws accordingly.

  • Environmental officers also need to appear in front of the court of law in case their professional opinion is required regarding a violation of the environmental laws.

Besides responsibilities, related to higher levels of pollution or damages created by industrial companies, environmental enforcement jobs also require handling complaints from local residents. Such complaints can be related to noisy neighbors, abandoned vehicles, or graffiti.
